This Arctic Resort Has Glass Igloos for Stargazing

Not a fan of the cold? We don’t blame you. But even the most avid beach-goers and sun-seekers might want to reconsider their next getaway. Because at the Kakslauttanen hotel in Finland, you can enjoy mind-boggling winter skies all while glamping out in your very own igloo.

Located in beautifully stark Lapland, the Kakslauttanen hotel offers guests an up-close arctic experience without the sacrifice of warmth or comfort. The hotel’s uniquely designed modern igloos provide a full view of the night sky for a stargazing experience unlike any other. Even though temperatures can drop to as low as -22 degrees outside, their insulating thermal glass keeps you warm so you can fall asleep under an open sky. Been meaning to cross the Northern Lights off your bucket list? Head to Kakslauttanen anywhere from late August to early April and there’s a pretty good chance you’ll catch a glimpse.

But a dazzling sky isn’t all the hotel has to offer. You can also enjoy a range of outdoor activities, which includes everything from dog sledding to ice fishing. Afterward, you might want to unwind at the hotel’s smoke sauna or get a drink at one of its restaurants. Whether you’re a trekking adventurer or prefer to snuggle up in a luxury bed, it appears there’s something for everyone. It’s winter at its finest.
